Days grow short but Rains don’t as September arrives

South west monsoon has been active over Northern and North eastern parts of India. Heavy rainfall over north eastern India would persist and isolated rains would continue over rest of the country . An increase in rainfall can be expected in the southern interiors, especially in Tamil Nadu. There is an upper air cyclonic circulation over South west bay of Bengal, so is a trough running along Orissa till TN coast. Weather models project good precipitation in the coming days over interiors of TN and moderate to light rains along the coastal belt as well. Light to moderate showers in and around Chennai might continue for next couple of days.

City Outlook:

Chennai – A warm day with a maximum temperature of 34C accompanied by thundershowers in the afternoon/evening.

Vellore – Cloudy with a high of 34 C, Thundershowers are possible through the day and they might extend into the night as well.

Coimbatore – A Partly cloudy day with a maximum of 31 C, with spotty showers during the day. Some showers possible during night as well.

Madurai – Cloudy and warm with maximum temperature around 34 deg , thundershowers  are possible in the afternoon/evening.

Trichy –  A warm day with a mix of sun and clouds, mercury could touch 35 C. Isolated thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon.
