Deep Depression formation apace in Bay

Evolving disturbance in Bay of Bengal has sought the attention of weather watchers in the state as the churn intensifies slowly and steadily in open seas far in South Bay of Bengal. As things stand now, it will reach Depression status today, exhibiting West North West Movement as it approaches Indian Mainland. Continual intensification should peg it as a Deep Depression by tomorrow after which it will exhibit more poleward trajectory with minimal west movement. By Saturday, chances of this becoming a cyclone cannot be ruled out as it breathes out in open seas, intensifying under favourable shear and sea surface temperatures. From there on, the model guidance is uncertain on the eventual touchdown place but if early forecasts are anything to go by, it may happen in Andhra Pradesh coasts. Weakening trend is forecast while nearing landfall even as it interacts with upper level westerly trough.

Under its influence, rains are forecast for extreme NTN and South AP coastal areas over the weekend with wind speeds exceeding 50kmph. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea with immediate effect. Over North, seasonal Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir surroundings has augured isolated rains in North West India. As it moves east, it should herald the wintrish weather over these places dipping the minimum temperatures further. Fog should be prevalent in patches.
