Depression over Arabian sea is set to weaken further in South East and adjoining East Central Arabian Sea. But this is not going to weaken the rains over ghats of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Parts of Central and North Kerala would be witness to moderate rains as the Depression tracks in the vicinity. Ghats in particular will trap the moisture on the eastern slopes and induce significant precipitation. In Tamil Nadu, barring ghats and adjoining places, no significant precipitation is expected today.
But scenario for Friday through Sunday will be different over Interior Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka when wind patterns become unsettled as the system weakens, creating explosive environment for Thundershowers to prosper. Rains will reduce beginning next week over most parts of South Peninsula.
Note: Fishermen are advised not to venture out into the sea off Kerala, Lakshadweep and adjoining South East Arabian sea.
