Enhanced Rainfall activity over Tamil Nadu post Diwali

After having dumped significant heavy rains over South Konkan, Goa and Coastal Karnataka, the churn in the Arabian sea currently upgraded as a cyclonic storm Kyarr is moving west gradually further away from the Indian mainland. Owing to this, rainfall activity will decrease considerably over West coast but the threat of rough seas would hold sway for few more days. Robust rains would fall over NE states under the influence of trough which pulls in monsoon moisture from Bay. Elsewhere in North India, dry and seasonal weather would prevail with air quality remaining poor across NW plains on Diwali eve.

Winds are slowly reclaiming back to easterlies on Diwali day. Weather for Diwali would be mainly cloudy with chance of odd showers in some parts of the state.

Numerical Models suggest a formation of a weak circulation off Srilanka by tomorrow which is expected to pull in moist Bay winds to TN shores. Precipitation chances would increase in purview of this event from Monday and heavy rains are forecast for Coastal Tamilnadu mainly around Delta districts and South Coastal TN, and Moderate rains are forecast for rest of the state. Wet spell is expected to last for 4-5 days before a break phase ensues which is common.
