Feeble convective activity to continue across TN

Over the last week, there has been suppression in convective activity over most parts of the state. Atmospheric factors continue to show a mid level ridge as well as weak wind patterns resulting in poor thunderstorm activity.

Additionally, the compressive heat and clear skies have caused a surge in daytime / night time temperatures. Numerical models indicate these conditions to ease later this week albeit no major rainfall is expected.

City Outlook:

Chennai – Warm with a high of about 36 degrees and an uncomfortable night with a low of about 28 degrees.

Vellore – Some clouds and warm with a high of about 37 degrees and low of about 28 degrees.

Madurai – Hot with a max of about 38C and a low of about 29 degrees.

Coimbatore – Partly cloudy with high of about 33C and a low of about 22 degrees.

Trichy – Clear day with a high of about 38 degrees and a low of about 28 degrees.
