Upper Air cyclonic circulation prevails over north interior Karnataka and adjoining Maharashtra. As no significant weather phenomenon is to develop rains now, a second year without rain threatens to bring catastrophe for many people and wild animals in Tamil Nadu and adjoining states. Even as monsoon failed to show its power in the state, thunder showers generated due to local phenomenon came as a relief for the people in many parts of the state for past 2 weeks.
However, humidity levels were high during the day, which made the climate sultry. Some rain is expected today over north western interior Tamil Nadu like Coimbatore and the Nilgris districts.
