Last phase of NEM to begin with rains from easterlies

Numerical models indicate that the precipitation from easterly wave would increase gradually in 2 days and provide decent rains to most parts of coastal TN and adjoining interiors. Meanwhile Bay will be kept under watch for possible tropical system emerging from south east bay during last week of December.

Moving up North, North India reels under severe cold with Kargil records coldest at minus 11.2 degrees celsius. Severe cold conditions are likely to continue for next few days in
Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana.

City Outlook:

Chennai – Partly sunny with a day high of 32 C. Isolated showers at isolated places possible.

Madurai – Pleasant with partial sunshine at high of 30 C. Isolated showers possible.

Coimbatore – Pleasant conditions with Sunshine and broken clouds with day high of around 29 C.

Trichy – Warm weather to continue with a max of 31C. Chances of rains do not exist.

Vellore – Comfortable day with highs of 30C and a pleasant dry night to follow on.
