Severe cyclonic storm “Mekunu” over west central Arabian sea is expected to further intensify over open seas as it steadily approaches and takes aim at the Arabian desert lands of South Oman and South East Yemen. Though it spells nil impact on Indian shores, it has already blockaded the onset of monsoon in Andaman seas and it’s only expected to happen in next two days. Nevertheless, the Arabian branch of the monsoon should take shape in about a week’s time over Kerala by May 29th, thereby heralding the onset in Indian Mainland.
Over South Peninsula, premonsoon rains are peaking over the sub divisions of South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. In Tamilnadu, Summer is greatly offset by frequent evening showers in interiors which is expected to continue for next several days ably supported by the circulation in near shores over South West Bay. South Kerala is expected to receive moderate rains. Contrast to this, North and Central India is witnessing intense summer heat and heat wave is forecast for these places.
