Yesterday’s trough of low pressure over mean sea level now lies over south Andaman sea and adjoining regions with upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto 3.1 Km above mean sea level. This trough is expected to steadily march towards the Tamil Nadu coast during the next 3 to 4 days to herald the eagerly awaited wet spell. The rainfall activity is expected to commence around 20th/21st January 2017 with isolated heavy rains being possible over the coast.
Maximum temperatures to stay close to normal to slightly above normal over Tamil Nadu with rise in minimum temperatures possible over coastal areas after 2 days.

Chennai – Yet another pleasant day with maximum hovering around 30 degrees and a minimum of 22 degrees with partly cloudy skies.
Madurai – Mainly clear sky with maximum in the range of 32 degrees and a pleasant minimum of around 22 degrees.
Trichy – Mainly clear skies with maximum of 31 degrees and a minimum of 21 degrees with no large change from the prevailing conditions.
Coimbatore – A pleasant day with maximum of 30 degrees and a somewhat colder early mornings with minimum of 18 degrees.
Vellore – Pleasant conditions to continue with mainly clear skies, maximum and minimum in the range of 30 and 18 degrees respectively.
