Rain moves through Interior Districts

Though rains have now taken a break but sky remains mostly cloudy and north & interior Tamil Nadu districts can expect some more good spells of rains through the day. The depression in West central Bay of Bengal is weakening due to the proximity to the coast and the system is most likely to weaken gradually in 24 hours and cross Odisha coastal area. In Tamil Nadu, the cloud cover along with moisture incursion will also lead to slight rise in morning minimums, while the maximum temperature may soar by a few notches at most places over the next two to three days.

City Outlook:

Chennai – Partly Cloudy, pleasant condition with Max Temp of 31 °C; A passing shower expected.

Vellore – Mostly cloudy condition with Max Temp of 31°C; Light rain expected today.

Madurai – Mostly Sunny and less humid. Max temp would be around 32°C. Region may witness some thunderstorm.

Trichy – Partly cloudy. Max Temperature would be around 33°C; Afternoon shower expected.

Coimbatore – Partly cloudy & pleasant. Max Temperature would be around 31°C; Rain expected in the city.

Chennai water supply lakes (Poondi, Red Hills, Chembarabakkam and Cholavaram) has combined storage of 4464 mcft against full capacity of 11257 mcft. Storage as on same day, last year stood at 987 mcft
