The fierce eye of severe cyclonic strom GAJA made landfall in south coastal Delta on Thursday late night. It is likely to continue in west direction over central Tamil Nadu interiors and weaken gradually. Under the influence of this system widespread rainfall possible in most places of TN with very heavy rainfall and gusty winds reaching upto 60kmph especially in Thanjavur, Trichy, Pudhukottai, Karur districts. Weakened system might re-emerge in Arabian sea and further development should be monitored.
