Watch on South West Monsoon onset date

Conditions are becoming favorable for advance of SouthWest Monsoon over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood by around 23rd May 2018. A low pressure area has formed over South east Arabian sea with associated Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation. It is very likely to concentrate into a depression during next 48 hours and further into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 48 hours. It is very likely to move west – North westwards towards South Oman – Southeast Yemen coasts during next 5 days.

Meanwhile thunderstorms with gusty winds very likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Coastal and Interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Puducherry. No significant change expected in maximum temperatures.

City Outlook:

Chennai – A warm and sultry day leading to a manageable night. Max of around 38 degrees and a low of 28 degrees.

Coimbatore – A Partly cloudy and Humid day. 80% chances of a Thunderstorm in the evening/night. High of around 37 degrees and a low of 24 degrees.

Madurai – An Uncomfortably warm day leading to thundershowers in some parts of the city in the evening. High of 38 degrees and a low of 26 degrees.

Trichy – A Hot and humid day will be followed by warm night. High of around 38 degrees and a low of 28 degrees.

Vellore – A Scorching day leading to partly cloudy skies during the evening/night. High of 41 degrees and a low of 28 degrees.
