After a period of scattered rain from a trough in the easterlies last week, We are now heading into a week of sustained rainfall as a low-pressure area takes shape over the Bay of Bengal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Synoptic Feature and Rainfall:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A low-pressure area forming over the southwest Bay of Bengal will impact Tamil Nadu starting the night of November 11th, with coastal districts anticipated to see rainfall intensify by November 12th. KTCC (Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Chengalpet, Chennai) and delta regions are expected to experience moderate to heavy rains, becoming widespread by November 12th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, as the easterlies strengthen from November 13th, significant rainfall is expected, with heavy to very heavy showers possible in scattered locations on November 13th and 14th. Rainfall is likely to continue until the 16th, after which it will reduce for a few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MJO Support:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) now entering Phase 2 – Indian Ocean, enhanced rainfall activity is expected across southern peninsular India in the second half of November. This phase will likely bring increased tropical disturbances, resulting in significant precipitation across the region.
