Formation of Low Pressure Likely, Rains to increase further

Yesterday’s trough of low pressure at Mean Sea Level (MSL) over South West Bay of Bengal persists. The associated upper air circulation (UAC) now extends up to 1.5 Km above MSL. Another trough of low pressure at mean sea level has formed over South East Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman sea with UAC aloft extending up to 3.1 Km above MSL.
This is expected to become a low pressure area and lie over South West and adjoining South East Bay in the next 24 hours while moving  towards Tamilnadu coast. The twin troughs would be the reason for enhanced rainfall activity over Tamilnadu and adjoining South coastal Andhra Pradesh in the coming days. The rainfall activity which has commenced over Tamilnadu and South coastal Andhra Pradesh is likely to increase in intensity gradually over the next 24 to 72 hours.
