Monsoon Inches Northward As Rains Hit Maharashtra

While most parts of Tamil Nadu have remained dry with spotty rainfall in the state except for the southern parts of the state, the west coast continues to get widespread rainfall from the southwest monsoon. Most parts of the west coast are likely to see light to moderate rainfall with some heavy rainfall especially along the belt from north coastal Karnataka to Mumbai. Isolated instances of heavy rainfall amounts are possible in the state of Kerala, with scattered thundershowers in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha. Widespread rain is likely in the northeastern states as well.
Some parts of north India will continue witnessing temperatures above 40 C while much of the southern peninsula is likely to remain below the 40 C mark.
City Outlook:
Chennai – Hot sultry day with minuscule chances of showers in the evening. A possible maximum of 37 C.
Madurai – Hot day ahead with partly cloudy skies. The temperature is likely to peak at 37-38 C with a shower or two in the district.
Trichy – Scorching weather ahead with the mercury hitting 37-38 C. An isolated thunderstorm is possible, though not probable.
Coimbatore – Warm and rather comfortable with some drizzles and light rains in the district. Maximum of 33-34 C.
Vellore – Hot afternoon on the cards with the maximum temperature hitting 36-37 C. A shower or two likely in the evening.
