Monsoon watch remains intriguing in its progress

The ever interesting monsoon watch has been intriguing in its steady progress over coastal Karnataka and conditions are seen favorable for further advancement over parts of central and North Bay of Bengal, North eastern states and the sub Himalayan regions in the next few days. Meanwhile, the feeble off shore trough at mean sea level along Karnataka- Kerala coasts persists.
Moving on to peninsular India, conditions to remain warm and dry with the exception of some scattered showers over southern tip of TN. Coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa belt would see fairly widespread rains and some isolated showers over north and south interior Karnataka.
North coastal TN would remain hot and dry with the typical potent land based SW winds over powering sea based winds and delay the onset of sea breeze over our region.
City Outlook:
Chennai – Strong, pleasant SW winds at day break. Getting warmer and hotter during the day. A high of 38 degrees c and a warm night at 28 degrees.
Coimbatore – A cool and breezy morning. Few scattered clouds over the region. A high of 33 degrees and a comfortable low of 23 degrees.
Madurai – A steamy day in the offing. Partly cloudy skies with a day high of 38 degrees and a low of 26 degrees.
Trichy – A reasonable morning with variable cloudiness. A day high of 37 degrees and a low of 27 degrees.
Vellore – A balmy morning. Periods of sunshine with intermittent cloud cover. A high of 37 degrees and a low of 26 degrees.
