Pre monsoon thunderstorms likely over southern peninsula as SWM takes shape

Two upper air circulations, one off the Kerala coast over Lakshadweep and another off the North Andhra-South Odisha coast persist. These two features will lead to a good possibility of heavy rainfall over parts of Kerala, coastal Andhra and Odisha. Conditions are favourable for SWM onset over Kerala in the next few days. Pre monsoon thunderstorms possible at isolated places over interior South peninsula and along parts of the West coast. Heat wave conditions to continue over parts of Central, North and North-West India.

TN to mostly remain warm and humid. Moderate showers likely over ghat areas of South and West TN. Light to moderate thundershowers possible over parts of Interior TN.

Chennai: To remain warm and humid with a possibility of light to moderate thundershowers in the evening. Maximum of 38 and a minimum of 30 degrees.

Coimbatore: Partly cloudy sky with a gentle breeze. Light showers possible later in the day. Maximum of 33 and a minimum of 23 degrees.

Madurai: Partly cloudy with a high of 36 degrees and a low of 27 degrees. Thundershowers possible in the evening/night.

Tiruchi: Warm and mostly cloudy with a possibility of light rain towards the evening. Maximum of 37 and a minimum of 27 degrees.

Vellore : Partly cloudy with a day high of 38 degrees and a low of 26 degrees. Thundershowers possible in the evening/night.
