Slight rise in mercury likely in TN

A low pressure area persists over the Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast. Heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Chattisgarh, MP, Odisha, West Bengal, Coastal Andhra, the northern plains and the Himalayan states. The semi permanent off shore trough runs from south Gujarat to North Kerala coast, which is likely to result in isolated heavy rainfall along the west coast and the adjoining Ghats. The monsoon is likely to advance into most parts of the Northern plains in the next 2 days.
Most parts of TN are likely to see a slight rise in temperature. Light to moderate showers are possible at isolated parts of interior and coastal TN. Moderate to heavy rainfall is possible at isolated places over the ghats of West and South TN.
City Outlook:
Chennai – A gradual rise in temperatures expected, with a chance of light showers in parts of the city/suburbs later in the day. A high of 36 degrees and a low of 27 degrees.
Coimbatore – Cloudy and breezy conditions with a possibility of a light shower in the afternoon/evening. Maximum of 34 degrees and a minimum of 24 degrees.
Madurai – Hot and unpleasant conditions to continue. Maximum of 40 degrees and a minimum of 28 degrees.
Tiruchi – To remain warm with a chance of a light thundershower later in the day. Maximum of 38 degrees and a minimum of 28 degrees.
Vellore – Partly cloudy with a maximum of 37 degrees and a minimum of 27 degrees. Light thundershowers possible in the evening.
