The recent wet spell that has brought much needed relief from the searing heat is expected to linger around for yet another day. A trough in the form of a wind discontinuity from Vidarbha to South Tamil Nadu across Telangana, interior Karnataka & Tamilnadu extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level. The increased convergence as a result of good surface heating, upper level divergence caused by an upper tropospheric westerly trough and the general topography combined with moisture could produce thunderstorms across the southern peninsula.
The upper air cyclonic circulation near North East India is likely to cause wet weather over the northeastern states and Bangladesh with a few showers popping up in West Bengal. One or two showers might pop up along the western ghats in Maharashtra and the northern plains. Scattered showers are likely in the central Indian states too.
Easterlies, cloudy skies and wet weather could keep temperature at check in Tamil Nadu.
