Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Vardah Approaches The Coromandel Coast

Cyclone Vardah has intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm according to the Indian Meteorological Department and is expected to track largely westwards from here on towards the coastal areas of southern Andhra Pradesh and adjoining northern Tamil Nadu. Cloudy weather with a comfortable evening is likely to be experienced across the coastal areas of the peninsula as the cyclone approaches the coastline.

Rainfall could begin tonight or in the early hours of Monday in southern Andhra Pradesh and northern Tamil Nadu. Strong sustained winds and gusts are expected in association with this system. It is forecast to make landfall on Monday, the 12th of December.

Chennai – Cloudy weather ahead with maximum temperatures of 30 C. Light rains could occur in the night.

Madurai – Partly cloudy weather interspersed with sunny hours. Temperature could peak at 32-33 C. Not much on the rain front.

Trichy – Partly cloudy weather on the cards with sunny intervals. The city could face maximum temperatures of 32 C. Drizzles possible.

Coimbatore – Cool day up ahead with the maximum temperature capping at 30 C.

Vellore – The city is all set for a cloudy day with a low maximum of 29-30 C. Drizzles could occur at night.
