Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Vardah Approaches The Coromandel Coast

Cyclone Vardah has intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm according to the Indian Meteorological Department and is expected to track largely westwards from here on towards the coastal areas of southern Andhra Pradesh and adjoining northern Tamil Nadu. Cloudy weather with a comfortable evening is likely to be experienced across the coastal areas of the peninsula as the cyclone approaches the coastline.
Rainfall could begin tonight or in the early hours of Monday in southern Andhra Pradesh and northern Tamil Nadu. Strong sustained winds and gusts are expected in association with this system. It is forecast to make landfall on Monday, the 12th of December.
