Monsoon to remain vigorous over West coast
Under the influence of a strong offshore trough, most parts of the west coast have received moderate to heavy rainfall over the last one week. This trend is expected to continue over this week with rainfall covering the entire coast. Meanwhile, parts of southern most TN have received good rainfall over the weekend owing to the active monsoon phase. A weakening in the convective activity is expected over TN over the next few days with fewer thunderstorms in the evenings owing to milder sea breeze activity and reduced instability.

Chennai – Partly cloudy with a high of about 36 degrees and a low of 28 degrees. Chances of an isolated thunderstorm.
Coimbatore – Cloudy and cooler with a high of 31 degrees and a low of 23 degrees. Light showers could develop in the evening.
Madurai – Warm with a high of about 37 degrees and a low of about 28 degrees.
Tiruchi – Breezy and warm with a high of about 37 degrees and a low of about 28 degrees.
Vellore – Partly cloudy sky with possibility of an evening thunderstorm. High of about 36 degrees.
