East India under Monsoon cloud, Lull in South

Low pressure area meandering in East Uttar Pradesh has provided vital rains for most parts of the state wiping much for the deficits incurred after a below normal rainfall in most of June and July. Neighbouring Bihar has also managed vital rains which should further reduce the mounting monsoon deficits. Cyclonic circulation in South Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal will keep the monsoon active in West Bengal. Active monsoon conditions would augur good rains in most of North Eastern states.

Down south, monsoon lull will stick around for a while with West coast settling for stray showers in isolated areas. In Tamil Nadu, day times can get warmer than seasonal norm suggests but evening showers may break out in parts bringing temporary relief.

City Outlook:

Chennai – Chances of isolated showers exist on a day with a max of 37C and min of 27C.

Vellore – One or two showers in the vicinity and day time will be warm at 37C. Nights should be warm at 26C.

Madurai – Hot and sunny with mercury settling at 39C/26C. Chance of an odd shower in the vicinity.

Trichy – Very warm and sunny with highs of 38C and lows of 27C. Dry weather will prevail in the city.
