Calm and settled weather to prevail across much of the Indian Subcontinent

As most of the Indian Subcontinent is  under the influence of the seasonal high pressure regime, no signs of wet weather expected, except for the far north in the mainland and the far south east in the Andamans. A trough of low at mean sea level is seen marked on synoptic charts with its upper air circulation extending up to 3 km above sea level around Andaman sea and the adjoining Gulf of Siam. This can bring about isolated heavy rains in the islands for the next few days before propagating westwards. The extreme North is under the influence of a western disturbance which will bring some rain and snow in the upper reaches of the western Himalayan region. Meanwhile, the rest of India can expect dry, calm winter weather conditions. In the south, coastal Tamil Nadu can see some low clouds floating aloft, now and then, with mild sunshine and near normal day and night time temperatures.
