Easterlies set to gain pace over Bay

Unsettled wind patterns in South Peninsula will make way for steady easterlies to take over from now on. The window for rains are not shut yet as rainfall activity is expected to pick up over parts of Tamil Nadu after a rather quiet first fortnight of December. Coastal areas of Delta and South Tamil Nadu will see scattered precipitation for next two days as moist easterlies gain pace and make a move towards the land. Medium range forecasts indicate enhanced precipitation over coastal areas by next week which must be the one to watch out for.

Up north, winter chill is clearly felt over the plains of Northern India after the passage of Western Disturbance which dumped snow in the hills and rains over plains. Cold wave conditions are forecast for North Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab with dense to very dense fog prevailing at places.
