On and Off convectional rainfall on cards

Various parts of the state have received convectional rain in the last few days owing to sea breeze front penetration and instability due to daytime heating. This trend will continue this week with moderate to heavy isolated rainfall possible in few places. Numerical models continue to indicate a developing low pressure area over coastal Andhra which will bring light to moderate precipitation across many parts of the state and North TN. Scattered light rainfall can also be expected in interior Karnataka and the Konkan coast.

City Outlook:

Chennai – Partly cloudy and seasonable with a high of about 32 degrees. Possibility of thunderstorms in the late evening.

Coimbatore – Some clouds and pleasant with a high of about 32 degrees and low of about 22 degrees.

Madurai – Warm and clear day with a high of about 36 degrees.

Trichy – Hot with a high of about 37 degrees and a low of about 26 degrees.

Vellore – Partly cloudy and pleasant with a high of about 32 degrees. Chance of a moderate thunderstorm later in the evening.
