System in bay to track towards East coast

A cool and wet day is on the cards as a mid level trough spans across Tamil Nadu extending into the bay of Bengal. The cyclonic circulation in the bay is expected to move North Westwards towards the stretch between Central AP and Odisha. This is expected to increase rainfall over North TN, Telangana, Andhra over the next 24 hours with light to moderate rainfall forecasted in many places.

Meanwhile, South west monsoon is continuing to withdraw quickly with the monsoon line now running across south Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh and Bihar. IMD has indicated that conditions are now favourable for further withdrawal from parts of Eastern, Central and Western India and some parts of North East during the next 2-3 days.

Chennai – Mostly cloudy and cooler with a high of about 30 degrees. Light rains possible through the day.

Vellore – Some clouds with a high of about 32 degrees and a low of about 23 degrees.

Madurai – Cool cloudy day with a high of about 30 degrees with gentle winds.

Trichy – Overcast with light rains and a high of about 28 degrees.

Coimbatore – Partly cloudy with chance of thunderstorms. High of about 27 degrees and a low of about 22 degrees.
