Tamil Nadu to remain under the spell of the Low Pressure at Bay
With the Southwest Bay of Bengal hosting a low pressure area, scattered rainfall over Tamil Nadu is to continue for the day. South coastal Tamil Nadu and Delta districts are likely to receive moderate to heavy rains, even though the regions have recorded the maximum quantum of rainfall from the current low.
Chennai and other North coastal districts of Tamil Nadu are expected to get intermittent monsoon showers. North interior Tamil Nadu is likely to see light to moderate rains. Isolated showers possible at places of Kerala. Dry weather is expected to continue over rest of the country.
CITY OUTLOOK:
CHENNAI – A day high of 28/29C and low of around 24/25C, with intermittent showers likely.
VELLORE – A warm day of 27/28C and temperature dropping to 23/24C. Showers possible later in the day.
COIMBATORE – A day with temperature rising to 27/28C and a fall of temperature to 23C with light rains likely.
TRICHY – A day high of 29C and low of around 25C with fair chances of rains later in the day.
MADURAI – A day with temperature around 29-30C and minimum temperature of 24-25C with showers in the afternoon or evening likely.

Indian Meteorological department (IMD) started naming cyclones from the year 2004.The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Onil” was the 1st Named cyclone in the North Indian Ocean Basin. It made landfall at Porbandar, Gujarat on 10th October, 2004.
