Isolated thunderstorms to prevail as monsoon remains in growth phase

Convective thunderstorms will continue to develop across some parts of the peninsula owing to daytime heat as the monsoon progress has been gradual. Most parts of TN will continue to see high daytime temperatures with possibility of quick isolated thunderstorms later during the evening.

The offshore circulation over the west coast has weakened with a low level ridge across the coast resulting in feeble monsoon conditions. Numerical models indicate that this temporary condition will resolve later during the week.

Chennai – Partly cloudy with a high of about 35 degrees and a low of about 29 degrees.

Coimbatore – Clear pleasant day with a high of about 33 degrees and a low of about 22 degrees.

Madurai – Hot with a high of about 38 degrees and a low of 28 degrees. Chance of isolated thunderstorms later in the evening.

Trichy – Very warm and clear day with chance of isolated thunderstorms in the late evening. High of about 38 degrees and low of about 27 degrees.

Vellore – Partly cloudy and warm with a high of 37 degrees and low of about 26 degrees.
