North East Monsoon arrives in TN shores

Much awaited North East Monsoon will onset over Tamilnadu, Kerala, and adjoining Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka today. This comes at the back of exit of South West Monsoon from the country yesterday. A churn in both the seas of the Peninsula is of greater importance as they have higher chances of intensification. Arabian sea system has intensified into a Deep Depression and will further intensify into a Cyclonic Storm “Luban” before heading westwards to cross shores near South Oman, Yemen coasts late this week. Bay of Bengal has thrown up a system on its own near North Andamans and is forecast to head towards Odisha as a Depression.

In this complexion, coastal areas of TamilNadu stands a chance to see showers at times. Southern coastal areas will see widespread rains and ghats of the state in particular will come under heavy rains category. Rest of the state will be witness to partly cloudy climes and temperatures well under control due to Easterlies with chance of an odd shower or two. A short break in rainfall activity will be noticeable after the onset due to Bay system heading North and away from TN. Kerala will see scattered moderate to heavy rains.

City Outlook:

Chennai – Partly cloudy skies with on and off showers Possible. Day high of 31C and low of 25C.

Vellore – Mercury will settle around 31C and low of 23.Odd shower possible.

Trichy – Cloudy with chance of showers exist. Day time high of 32C and night lows of 25C is forecast.

Madurai – Overcast and chance of few showers . Day highs of 31C will prevail with overnight lows of 23C.

Coimbatore – Mostly Overcast with a chance of an odd shower. Highs of 30C and lows of 22C will be observed.
