Relief on the horizon
Tamil Nadu has been experiencing unusually hot afternoons over the past few days, with temperatures soaring up to 38°C. However, relief is here as thunderstorms begin to develop across several regions.
An upper air circulation forming over the Bay of Bengal has started to trigger thunderstorms in various parts of Tamil Nadu, including the KTCC districts (Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Chengalpet, and Chennai), The same will continue mainly during the night and early morning over the next 4-5 days. This will likely bring a significant drop in temperatures, providing much-needed respite from the heat.
Northeast Monsoon 2024:
Early forecasts from leading long-range climate models indicate that the northeast monsoon for Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in 2024 is expected to be normal to above normal, driven by a developing La Niña atmosphere. More updates will be shared soon.
