Temperatures are likely soar over western parts of Chennai as summer approaches its peak

In recent weeks, we’ve noticed temperatures gradually rising across many parts of Tamil Nadu as summer kicks in. Numerical weather models predict that temperatures will go even higher as we move closer to April. Places like Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram could experience midday temperatures reaching a scorching 40°C.

Even though coastal areas of Chennai might see temperatures hitting around 34-35°C, the early sea breeze could help cool things down a bit. Unfortunately, suburban areas won’t catch a break, with temperatures soaring up to 38°C.

As summer peaks, it’s essential for everyone to stay hydrated and try to avoid going out between 1-3 pm when the sun is at its strongest.
