Thunderstorms to continue in Western Tamil Nadu
The abrupt change in wind direction (wind discontinuity) continues to persist in interior Tamil Nadu with a slight shift towards western Tamil Nadu extending till south Tamil Nadu. Widespread thunderstorms have lashed many parts of Tamil Nadu on Sunday with heavy spells around the north interior districts. Adding to this scenario, winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal is expected to keep the temperature in check across the State. Kanyakumari, Theni, Erode, Tiruppur, Dharmapuri, Coimbatore, Krishnagiri and the other adjoining districts will continue to get rains, thanks to the wind discontinuity factor.

Chennai – Clouds in the morning to give away for clear weather with sea breeze keeping the maximum temperature at check around 36-37 C.
Madurai – Mostly sunny day with mercury tocuhing 40 C. Thunderstorms may visit the city’s outskirts later in the day.
Coimbatore – Chance of Thunder showers at evening/night with Maxima around 36-37 C.
Trichy – The centre city will continue to remain hot at 40 C with slim chance of rains.
Vellore – Yesterday’s rain in the outskirts and suburbs will make the temperature dip to 39 C, which is low as per the fort city standards. Slim chance of rains over the area.
24 hrs highlights in TN – Kadayanallur and Ayikudi in Tirunelveli district was soaked with a heavy rainfall of 81 and 61 mm respectively.
