TN Braces for a Potential Cyclone landfall in 48hrs

The LPA(Low Pressure Area) over Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining central parts of South Bay of Bengal has moved in the NW direction and is now lying as a Well Marked LPA over SW and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal. This Well Marked LPA will intensify into a Depression by today and subsequently into a Cyclonic Storm by tomorrow(IMD). The name for this cyclone is likely to be ‘NIVAR’ given by Iran.

Of note the conditions look moderately favorable along the coastline with low shear and SST of 29-30 deg C.
IMD predicts this cyclone may cross between Karaikal and Mahabs on the 25th afternoon. Further clarity on the place of landfall would evolve in the next 12-18 hours and surface winds may pick up over the TN coast within next 24 hours.

Widespread showers are likely over North and Central TN and extreme rainfall in isolated places in the next 48-72 hours.
