Wait for the monsoon continues across peninsula

Another dry day is scheduled for most of the state as the eagerly expected North East monsoon shows signs of a delayed onset. Meanwhile, there has been normal withdrawal of the summer monsoon with the line of withdrawal now passing across coastal Karnataka, Telangana and Northern Andhra. Atmospheric factors continue to indicate suppression over North Indian ocean basin which could be delaying the onset and dry weather is expected to persist until that point.

Chennai – Sunny and seasonable with a high of about 32 degrees and a low of about 25 degrees

Madurai – Some clouds with a high of about 34 degrees. Chance of isolated thunderstorms developing over the day.

Trichy – Clear with a high of about 33 degrees and a low of about 25 degrees

Vellore – Seasonable day with a high of about 33 degrees and a low of about 21 degrees

Coimbatore – Partly cloudy and warm. High of about 33 degrees and a low of about 22 degrees. Chance of thunderstorms later during the day.
