Conditions likely to be favourable for NEM in the last week of October

Initial forecasts indicate the Arrival of the Northeast Winds in Bay of Bengal around the end of October. The low pressure which caused Havoc over Kerala has become less marked into a trough. But isolated rains are likely to continue over Adjoining Kerala coast and South Karnataka. The Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn until over Telangana and Maharashtra as per IMD Observation.

Weather in Chennai is likely to be warm and a chance of isolated heavy shower exists over the city for the next 2 days and after which it is likely to become dull until Northeast Monsoon makes onset in the end of October. Overall the preliminary NEM forecasts are looking encouraging. We will have to wait and see on its reality.

Chennai reservoirs have an unprecedented 82% water storage for the year. There is likely to be no water shortage issues in 2022 for Chennai and adjoining regions of Chennai.
