Records Galore as November crosses 1000 mm in Nungambakkam for the 3rd in history

A great year with respect to rainfall for the city of Chennai in 2021. The combination of having a good SWM and good NEM in a single year happens rarely and fortunately we have got to witness three good Monsoons from 2020 NEM to 2021 SWM and 2021 NEM. The water tables have changed as Nungambakkam clocks record 124 cm of Rainfall from October 1st, 2021.

The Annual rainfall has breached past 200 cm for only the 3rd time in the last 25 years.
The rains are not over yet. Models expect Monsoon to extend into late dec owing to incidence of La-nina and Negative IOD.

Rains from this trough have deluged places south of Chennai in the last few days as place like Mahablipuram, Kelambakkam and Palavakkam have crossed 20 cms of rain in the last 72 hours. Rains are likely to continue for the next 24-36 hours with isolated to heavy spells.
