Chennai city recieved 220 mm Rainfall in the last 36 hours and 710 mm of Rainfall in the last 10 days of November 2021 and also making it the 2nd Wettest November in the last 25 years just behind 2015 November where the city recieved 1000 mm of Rainfall. NEM has yet again proved what its known for with Extreme Torrential Downpours across the city causing Widespread local Flooding across various parts of the city.

Chennaities can have some relief from the rains for the next 2-3 days. A few showers are likely over the city for the next 3 days. Numerical weather models indicate yet another disturbance moving into Bay of Bengal from South China Sea after the next 3-4 days. We will have to wait and watch how the new circulation progresses also with the favourable phase of MJO, the new system might spice up well.

Nevertheless, Chennai has experienced one of the most vigorous Northeast Monsoon phases in the recent times. The ITCZ has sat firm over the latitude of NTN/SAP and has been instrumental for the deluges which we got in the last 10 days.
